Based on the outcome of the strategic planning a more accurate and detailed picture of the UXO
situation might be valuable. The purpose can be to find possibilities to reduce risks and
limit/dimension costly mitigation actions if risk areas presented in the strategic map can´t be
avoided.
UXOIntelligence can on a very short notice (hours) deliver a cut out from the NSMD meaning a high-
resolution picture of all minefields laid within an AOI. This picture can be refined by a brief or
deepened research. A brief research means that the data is updated by research in UXOIntelligence
archive of 300.000 copied historic document pages, maps, tables etc. The benefit of a high-resolution
picture of the mine risk areas can lead to:
1. A more precise assessment of the positioning of minefields meaning a reduction of the Mine Danger Areas which means reduced area to UXO survey
2. Supplementary information of the composition of the minefield like, if not previously known, type of mines, laying pattern, number of mines etc. meaning that a more relevant and precise risk assessment can be done.
3. A relevant calculation of remaining number of mines after the minefield were sweept, i.e. the clearance result minus the number of laid mines, meaning that the risk level can be reduced in whole or parts of the minefield.
A deepened research involves research and gathering of information in archives.
The detailed minefield data can be presented in various ways. The laying pattern of each individual
mine in a minefield can be presented. This pattern combined with withdrawal of mines that was
sweept during mine clearance in the minefield, gives a picture showing the density of potential
sunken contact mines or remaining ground mines.
